There are many ways that you can protect Shareaza (and your computer) from fake and unwanted files. One of the easiest ways to do this is to apply the latest X-Ray Security Filter.

The X-Ray Security Filter is a small download that you have to install into the security module of Shareaza. It will then block certain things, which will protect you against fake/corrupt hosts (like those 851kb files that appear in search results). By blocking these kind of hosts, in turn you will protect yourself from viruses. To download the latest version of the X-Ray Security Filter just go to the home page.

Although the X-Ray Security Filter is a good tool to have, it is not always 100% accurate.

Another way to protect your computer and p2p downloads is with a program called PeerGuardian. PeerGuardian is similar to the X-Ray Security Filter, but blocks IP's on the kernel level, meaning that any connection made to your computer is scanned to make sure that it is safe.
